PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonation treatment method where, regarding the carbonation of largely generated slag, productivity is high, and expansion and pH in water are stabilized to low degrees. SOLUTION: Slag is immersed into water comprising carbonic acid, and supersonic waves are applied, so as to form a calcium carbonate phase 12 on the surface of a slag particle 11 or the surface and inside thereof. The slag can be subjected to stabilization treatment in a short time, and a neutral range can be held even if it is contacted with water. The slag is the one mainly generated in an iron manufacturing stage, and the method can be applied not only to pig iron making slag such as annealed blast furnace slag and granulated blast furnace slag but also to slag generated by various treatments in a pig iron making stage (desulfurized molten iron slag, dephosphorized molten iron slag and dephosphorized-desulfurized molten iron slag), slag generated upon decarburization blowing in a converter, slag generated in secondary refining or the like.
