PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separating plate covering tool capable of adjusting the separating force of a separating plate in a range on the resistant force side smaller than the friction resistance of the separating plate, and feeding sheets in a predetermined straight-going direction. SOLUTION: The separating plate covering tool 20 is attachably/detachably fitted to a paper feeder for passing sheets stacked on a paper feed stand through a space between a paper feed roller and a separating plate arranged opposite to an outer circumferential surface of the paper feed roller, and comprises a covering plate 21 for covering an upper surface of the separating plate which is formed of a thin plate of the friction resistance smaller than that of the separating plate and has a cutout part 22 of the predetermined width extending in the longitudinal direction and opened forwardly, and a holder 25 which is fixed to a rear portion of the covering plate 21 and provided with a downward locking piece part 26 to be attached/detached to/from a rear end face of a table of the paper feed stand.
