Disclosed are a method and device for identifying a web page type. The method comprises: determining an average user visit count of links at multiple positions from a web page to be identified within a pre-set time; according to the average user visit count of the links at the multiple positions, determining a difference among user visit counts of the web page to be identified based on different positions; and when the difference among the user visit counts reaches a threshold value, determining the type of web page to be identified as a human editor web page. When the difference among the user visit counts of the web page to be identified at the different positions is greater, the web page to be identified has obvious manual intervention characteristics and can be determined as a human editor web page. Thus, distinguished from a machine-generated web page, the human editor page can be differentiated differently, such that more valuable and targeted information can be acquired by a search engine, and network resources can also be more effectively utilized. |
