Disclosed are a method for automatically connecting short-range communications between two devices and an apparatus therefor. The apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a short-range communications module enabling short-range communications with an external device; an interrupt detector which detects an interrupt signal for the short-range communications received from the external device through the short-range communications module in a sleep mode which supplies only standby power; and a control unit. The interrupt detector wakes up the control unit when the interrupt signal is detected in the sleep mode. The woken control unit clears the sleep mode and controls the short-range communications module to perform the short-range communications with the external device.
