A holographic display apparatus comprises: a light source unit for emitting light; and a spatial optical modulator. The spatial optical modulator can output a holographic image by modulating at least one from a phase and an amplitude of the light emitted by the light source unit. The spatial optical modulator includes a substrate and a plurality of optical modulating layers stacked on the substrate. At least one among the refractivity, the thickness, and the transparency of the optical modulating layers can be different.
