The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for determining a physical address which determine a physical node on a network or a corresponding relation between an address of a virtual node and the address of the physical node in a software defined network (SDN) where a network is controlled based on software by a centralized controller. The apparatus for determining a physical address based on an SDN comprises an address handling unit and a control unit. An objective of the present invention is to determine all items for packet forwarding in a centralized manner by a controller to program and load an application for performing a desired function in the controller to easily provide a new network service.
