PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To charge a battery which has been deeply discharged in a short period of time.SOLUTION: A charging circuit 100 is integrated in one semiconductor chip, and is constituted to be operated using a DC voltage VBUS of a USB port as a power source. A USB charger detector 60 determines the type of a host adaptor 102 based on an electrical state of the USB port when the host adaptor 102 is connected to the USB port. A register 66 stores data IUSSET[1:0] indicating a current limit value IMAX set according to the type of the determined host adaptor 102. A charging section 64 charges a battery 2 in a constant current mode or a constant voltage mode based on the DC voltage VBUS. An input current IIN of the charging section 64 is constituted so as to be limited to the current limit value IMAX which is indicated by the data IUSSET[1:0] stored in the register 66, or less. |
