A software security layer may be used to protect a system against exploitation of a hardware encoder accelerator by malicious data embedded in the one or more frames of encoded digital streaming data. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
