PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit for an internal combustion engine which prevents generation of abnormal combustion when fuel cut is performed for a part of cylinders during an exhaust gas recirculation control.SOLUTION: A control unit for an internal combustion engine includes EGR device 26. When a series of preignition is detected, a series-preignition prevention control is executed that performs fuel cut for a cylinder (partial cylinder) in which the series has been detected. When the fuel cut is performed for the partial cylinder during execution of an external EGR control, an ignition timing of a cylinder other than the partial cylinder is delayed compared to that in the case where the fuel cut is not performed. |
