PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly condense the light from right and left stripe pixels forming a stereoscopic viewing region and to assure the wide visual stereoscopic viewing region in the vertical direction by adequately setting the pitch in the horizontal direction of openings and the width in the vertical direction thereof. SOLUTION: The openings 8 of mask patterns 9 are formed to checkered patterns and are formed to correspond to the respective stripe pixels to be displayed on a liquid crystal display 6 in a vertical direction and to correspond to respective cylindrical lenses for every kind of the stripe pixels. The pitch in the vertical direction of the openings 8 is set slightly larger than the pitch of the stripe pixels displayed on the liquid crystal display 6. The opening width in the vertical direction of the openings 8 is set smaller than the width of the stripe pixels. Then, the good stereoscopic images are observed even if the display device of a low display speed is used and the viewing of the right and left parallactic picture uniform over the entire part of the screen in the observation position of a prescribed height is possible. The observation region in the vertical direction is thus widened.
