<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conductive electrolyte which is for a fuel cell being actuated at a comparatively high temperature from 80°C to 250°C. <P>SOLUTION: This is a proton conductive medium which is an electrochemical device, and the conductive medium in order to use in the electrochemical device, and which has the proton conductive electrolyte constituting a next formula: H<SB>a</SB>M<SB>b</SB>Q-nH<SB>2</SB>O. H in the formula is proton, M is cation, and Q is fluoroborate or fluoroheteroborate anion, while n is in the range of 0.01 to 1,000, a is in the range of 0.01 to 2, and b is in the range of 0 to 2. a and b are selected so as to make the formula to be electrically neutral.
