The invention relates to a drain valve, in particular for an oil filter, comprising a valve body (4) which is spring-loaded against a valve seat (5) at the out let opening (3) of a fluid container (1) in order to close said opening. The valve body (4) has at least one barb (9) which, when the drain valve (4) is being assembled, can be inserted through the outlet opening (3) and snapped into place against the pressure of a spring (8) thereby fixing the valve body (4) to the opened valve seat (5) at a distance defined by the shape of the barb (9). The valve body (4) is preferably made of plastic.
