PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a world mesh code which permits speedy and accurate expression of positional information by displaying only in figures in a global scale or within a specific region, and has compatibility with existing coordinates, etc., being easy to understand for anybody, easy to computerize and digitize, and excellent in practical and general use. SOLUTION: The method of generating a world mesh code permits accurate, simple, and comprehensible expression of positional information by dividing the world into 18 pieces of blocks, dividing each block into 100 meshes each in the east/west and south/north directions, further finely dividing each mesh to be provided with coordinates or subdivide it into small meshes and thereby sequentially indicating the numbers given to each sub-mesh for the global scale, and indicating them by omitting the sub-mesh numbers or also the mesh numbers for a usual narrow region.
