PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the access to a work area without obstructing a discharge section and an edge by forming the door of a machine tool into a round door rotatable around the vertical axis. SOLUTION: This machine tool is provided with a work area cover 22 for protecting the periphery from chips generated at the time of a machining process or a coolant or a lubricant. The work area cover 22 is formed as a protective cabin having a round door 24 rotatable around the vertical axis 23. The round door 24 having the shape of a cylindrical jacket segment is provided with a bent side face wall section 25 and a cover surface 26 formed as part of a circle, e.g., a quarter circle, and the side wall 25 and the cover surface 26 are fixed and connected together. The round door 24 allows access from a front section and a side section at a fully opened position. |
