A feed containing 2+ C hydrocarbons and hydrogen is selectively hydrogenated after separating hydrogen from the feed using a membrane. Process for selective hydrogenation of a feed containing 2+ C hydrocarbons and hydrogen, characterized by having at least one stage (stage a) for separation of part of the H2 contained in the feed using a membrane and a second stage (stage b) where product from stage (a) is selectively hydrogenated in a reaction column.
