PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic ventilating opening for a building capable of smoothly closing (turning) a closing plate to a vent hole. SOLUTION: This ventilating opening is constructed of a square main frame body 1, which has the vent hole 2 constructed of mutually opposed side wall plates 1c and 1c, and the closing plate 4 actuated by fusion of a hot-melting material for closing the vent hole 2. A receiving hole 6 constructed of a circular through hole is arranged in the side wall plate 4, and a projection piece 5 arranged continuously to both ends is engaged in the supporting hole 6 for assembling the closing plate 4 to the side wall plate 4 rotationally. In the side wall plate 1c, a rib 7 always holding a clearance (a) between the inside face 1c' of the side wall plate 1c and the end edge 4' of the closing plate 4 is protruded toward the closing plate 4.
