PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decorative floor material for building, which is prevented from easy separation of a face sheet from a substrate even if a V-shaped groove is formed in a surface of the floor material, and to provide a method for producing the decorative floor material. SOLUTION: The floor material is obtained by sticking the face sheet 2 to a surface of the substrate 1, and a pressed groove 11 is formed in the surface of the substrate 1. A portion of the face sheet 2, corresponding to the pressed groove 11 is formed into a V-shaped portion 21 in cross section, and the V-shaped portion 21 is press-fitted into the pressed groove 11 of the substrate 1, to thereby form the V-shaped groove 3 in the surface. Therefore, at the V-shaped groove 3 formed in the surface of the floor material, the V-shaped portion 21 in the face sheet 2 is press-fitted into the pressed groove 11 in the substrate 11, so that the feet of a person walking on the face sheet 2 is not tripped on the face sheet 2.
