PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using an amorphous silicon photoreceptor, which is improved so that the high grinding force of a cleaning roller to the photoreceptor can be maintained to be constant over a long term without causing toner's slipping through a cleaning blade or toner's fusion on the cleaning blade. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the moving direction of the cleaning roller 6 is reverse to that of the photoreceptor 1 at a position where the roller 6 is opposed to the photoreceptor 1 at the time of forming an image, and the moving direction thereof is the same as that of the photoreceptor 1 at the time of image non-forming time.
