<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of preventing an electrolyte layer from contacting the outside air in battery storage or of physically protecting an electrode surface. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell 40 is provided with: the electrolyte layer; an anode; a cathode; a fuel supply port for supplying a fuel to the anode therethrough; an oxygen supply port 42 for supplying oxygen to the cathode therethrough; and an oxygen supply cutoff means 41 for cutting off oxygen supplied to the cathode. The oxygen supply cutoff means 41 stops the cutoff of oxygen when the fuel cell 40 is connected to an appliance for use, or cuts off the supply of oxygen when the fuel cell 40 is disconnected from the appliance for use. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
