<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect edge fold of various recording mediums having different sizes using a small number of sensors. <P>SOLUTION: This edge fold detection device has a pair of jogger fences 42, 43 holding both side parts along the direction of conveyance of the recording medium S conveyed on a conveyance path and movable in the direction in which opposing intervals are changed in accordance with size of the recording medium S to be conveyed, a pair of first sensors 45a, 45b provided on the jogger fences 42, 43 to detect both side parts in the direction of lateral width of the recording medium S to be conveyed, a second sensor 46 deteting a center position in substantially central part in the direction of lateral width of the recording medium S to be conveyed, and a means for detecting whether edge fold occurs in the recording medium S or not based on the results of detection of the first sensors 45a, 45b and the second sensor 46.
