<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a sleeve member in an efficient and precise manner. <P>SOLUTION: When manufacturing a sleeve housing as the sleeve member, pressing work is first given to a metal work to form the rough shape of the sleeve housing and then chamfering is applied to the outer periphery on the upper face of a collar portion of the sleeve housing held by the chuck of a CNC lathe (Steps S11-S13), followed by cutting applied to the outside face of the collar portion through its upper side edge (Step S14). Then, cutting is applied to the lower face of the collar portion to equal the thickness of the collar portion as designed (Step S15), followed by chamfering applied to the outer periphery on the lower face of the collar portion and then second cutting is applied to the outside face of the collar portion through its lower side edge to equal the outer diameter of the collar portion as designed (Step S17).
