An addition compound and its salt, its use as a dispersant and a dispersion stabilizer, and a method for preparing the addition compound and its salt are provided to stabilize a pigment and a filler and to lower the viscosity of a paint, a paste or the mill base of plastic mixture. An addition compound and its salt is obtained by reacting at least one polyisocyanate containing a uretdione group with at least one kind of compound represented by Y-(XH)n to prepare an intermediate containing a uretdione group; and reacting the obtained intermediate with at least one kind of compound represented by Z-(NHR)m, wherein XH is a reactive group to isocyanate; Y has no reactivity to isocyanate, is a monomer or polymer organic group containing an aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic aliphatic and/or aromatic group and has a number average molecular weight of 20,000 g/mol or less; n is 1, 2 or 3; R is H, a C1-C36 aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic aliphatic and/or aromatic group, or a polyoxyalkyl group; m is 1, 2 or 3; and Z is a basic alicyclic, aromatic aliphatic and/or aromatic group, or a polyoxyalkylene or polysiloxane group having a number average molecular weight of 10,000 g/mol or less.
