The airbag module (1) has an airbag (2), which is inflated with gas for protecting an occupant, a gas generator (3), and a cooling device (5), which comprises an openable reservoir (5a) for storing a coolant (K). The reservoir is designed to be opened during the inflation of the airbag. The cooling device comprises a movement-generating device (5c), which is arranged and provided in order to open the reservoir to release the coolant.
