<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device 1 capable of restraining generation of an abnormal sound when forming an image on both surfaces, by surely imparting proper stiffness in response to a kind of paper. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device 1 has a stiffness imparting member 25 arranged on this side of first and second discharge rollers 16 and 17 for discharging image-formed paper PO outside a machine and imparting the stiffness P3 to the paper. When forming the image on both surfaces, after a residual part is discharged once outside the machine in a state of leaving a part P2 of the paper in the machine, the paper PO is switched back and taken again in the machine. The stiffness imparting member 25 projects in a downstream side carrying passage 12C, and is displaceably supported in the projecting direction F4 by a holding member 27 in a state of being elastically energized by a compression coil spring 28, and imparts the proper stiffness P3 in response to the paper by changing a projection quantity in response to sliding contact pressure with the paper.
