PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intaglio printer in which a printing plate of a printing cylinder has recesses not only for reception of printing ink but for introduction of screen ink in a desired style, in which the recesses allow printing in a profile corresponding to their shapes, and in which bills printed thereby can surely be recognized even by a visually disabled person. SOLUTION: In the intaglio printer, a plate cylinder 2 is provided that supports at least one intaglio, and ink supply means 4, 6, 8 for inking the intaglio are provided. An impression cylinder 1 is also installed which is designed to cooperate with the plate cylinder 2 for the purpose of printing on a material to be printed passing between the plate cylinder 1 and the impression cylinder 1. There is installed at least one screen printing cylinder 7 for applying screen ink on the intaglio, wherein the screen printing cylinder 7 is equipped with a screen 16 and a doctor 17, and wherein the doctor 17 is designed to impart to the screen 16 a radially outward pressure to the plate cylinder 2. The screen printing cylinder 7 includes means 18, 19 which guide the doctor 17 inside the screen 16 and pull back the doctor 17 radially inward when the screen printing cylinder 7 passes a region projecting beyond the radius of at least one intaglio of the plate cylinder 2.
