In an LTE network having Home eNodeBs (111), there is a issue of potential delay in handover of a UE (12) to another eNodeB (112) owing to the need to set up again a dropped X2 or S1 connection. Such set up can take considerable time since the Home eNodeB relies on a fixed broadband connection to connect with the core network. To avoid this, the Home eNodeB (111) watches for a potential handover situation and prepares for it by pre-emptively re-establishing the dropped connection to the other eNodeB (112) or to the MME (21). Then, upon issuance of an actual handover request, the handover procedure can be completed without undue delay.
|
