PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite destructive device capable of magnetically and physically destroying information stored in a hard disk device to make the stored information inaccessible.SOLUTION: A composite destructive device comprises, in order from the top of a housing 12 downward, a loading unit 14, a magnetic erasing unit 20, a physical destruction unit 24, and a discharge unit 16. A hard disk device 36 loaded in the loading unit 14 is physically destroyed in the physical destruction unit 24 after going through a magnetic erasure process in the magnetic erasing unit 20, and is discharged from the discharge unit 16. The magnetic erasure process involves exciting a coil 202 to generate a magnetic field of predetermined strength in a substantially vertical direction and applying the magnetic field to the loaded hard disk device 36 to erase magnetic information. The physical destruction process involves driving a hydraulic cylinder mechanism 240 to project a destruction piston rod which presses on and destroys the hard disk device 36 coming down from the magnetic erasing unit 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
