Silica encapsulated single-enzyme nanoparticles comprising a single enzyme and a silica network surrounding the single enzyme and having pores, wherein no covalent bond is formed between the single enzyme and the silica network, and the silica encapsulated single-enzyme nanoparticles have a Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) value with a margin of error not greater than 20% as compared to that of free enzymes, and wherein the silica network has a thickness of 0.5-2.0 nm. |
