PURPOSE:To construct a structure in soft ground in a short time period and at a low cost by a method in which excavation is made to a lower position than the foundation slab of structure, a synthetic fiber net and good-quality soil are alternately laid on the bottom of the excavated trench and compacted, and subsequently sand compaction piles are compacted. CONSTITUTION:Soft ground 1 is excavated to a lower position than the bottom of a foundation slab 6a, and a synthetic fiber net 3 and good-quality soil 4 are laid on the bottom of the excavated trench and compacted to form an uniformly thick slab ground 2. Sand compaction piles 5 are then formed to a desired depth through the ground 2 and a casing 9 detachably attached with a conical shoe 8 is penetrated into the ground while being vibrated. A fixed amount of sand is charged into the casing 9. Sand 10 is pushed into holes by compressed air or compaction is repeatedly made till the surface of the ground 2. The whole area of the bottom of the foundation slab can thus be supported by the uniformly improved ground to prevent the occurrence of trouble to be caused by unequal subsidence, etc.
