The process of the invention consists in placing a gold-bearing or silver-bearing substrate in the form of particles containing sulphides in contact with an aqueous acidic leaching medium containing aerobic bacteria oxidising the sulphides in order to oxidise at least a proportion of the sulphide to sulphate, then placing the oxidised substrate in contact with a chemical reactant in an aqueous medium in order to dissolve the gold and the silver which are present in the oxidised substrate. The invention is employed for extracting gold and/or silver from a gold-bearing or silver-bearing substrate in the form of particles containing sulphides. <IMAGE> |
