The gear drive consists of gears (1,3) whose lateral faces (5,10) on the flank of the teeth (2,4) have a section which is shaped along the involute. The faces are located in the area passing through the pitch circle (7,12) of the gear and which are adjacent to two sections (8,14,9,13) shaped according to the 'Novikov gearing' profile, and located in the areas beyond the pitch circle. At least at two sections (6,8,11,14) the lateral face (5,10) of the flank of the tooth participating in meshing, has a deviation from the lateral face (15,16) of the theoretical gear profile in the direction of the increase in the thickness of the tooth.
