PURPOSE:To automatically adjust a character spacing while an impression of a character and a relationship between adjacent characters are sufficiently taken into consideration by a method wherein generated character density data, overlapped face area data, and space area data are applied to a knowledge related to a character spacing adjustment. CONSTITUTION:A hard disk of a hard disk drive device 14 is used for storing data of a large capacity. in place of or in addition to the hard disk drive 14, a floppy disk drive may be provided. For example, a program for controlling a CPU 11, a fuzzy inference rule for a character gap adjustment, a membership function, and the like are stored in a ROM 12, a RAM 13, and the hard disk or floppy disk. Data representing a document to be printed is stored in the hard disk or floppy disk. |
