A process for associating a remote control to a base station has a first step during which the base station emits a search signal, a second step during which the search signal is received, a third step during which the search signal is compared to a reference signal and a fourth step during each the actuating element emits a presence signal when the search signal matches the reference signal. If no presence signal follows the search signal, the base station (10) emits again a search signal after a repetition time (Ts). The process is implemented by means of a base station (10) with means (11) for sensing the time Ts elapsed since the transmission of the search signal and by means of a remote control (30) which switches from a base state into an active state when it receives a search signal.
