The mandrel of a reeling machine, has an assembly of adjacent segments (3) surrounding the central rotating shaft (1) which can be displaced radially under the action of a mechanism (4, 5, 6) controlling the expansion or the shrinking of the mandrel. The mandrel (M) incorporates a device (K) for cooling the cylindrical surface of the winding (S) comprising, inside each of the segments (3), an individual cooling circuit (18) having an inlet orifice (29a) and an outlet orifice (29b) each connected, by some deformable connectors (J, 33), to a feed chamber (37a) and an evacuation chamber (37b) of a fluid box (35) fixed on the central shaft (1) in a free space left between the segments (3). Also claimed is the use of this mandrel for the reeling of hot metal strip leaving a continuous casting machine. |
