The connector fitting (12) has a body (16) with a band (22) and a support spigot (18) with a reduced diameter connecting end (28) movably receiving the band. A plastics shrinkage sleeve (14) extends over the support spigot, the connecting end of the plastics pipe , the band and an intermediate section of the connector fitting (38). The connector fitting intermediate section can have a radially reduced cross section with a radial step (32) for the axial retention of the shrinkage sleeve over the connector fitting body when shrunk into position.
