PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize damages even if a battery is broken under a pressure by laminating positive and negative electrodes via a separator, mounting them in a battery can, winding an insulator the outside of the battery can in which one electrode is conductive and winding a conductive body around the outside thereof, and allowing the conductor to conduct to the other electrode. SOLUTION: In this battery, since a conductor 4 conductive to a positive electrode 7 is wound around the outside of a battery can 2 conductive to a negative electrode 8 via an insulator 3 consisting of an double-sided insulation tape, the battery can 2 conductive to the negative electrode 8 at the beginning of pressure destruction and conductor 4 conductive to the positive electrode 7 is initially short-circuited, and electric energy is consumed. Since electric energy is consumed outside of the battery can 2, heating or gas generation inside the battery can 2 is restrained, damage over the whole battery can be prevented, damage to the periphery is minimized, and the battery safety and reliability are improved. A safety valve device 16 degassing the internal gas and a PTC element 17 preventing a temperature rise are provided against the pressure rise inside the battery higher than a predetermined value. |
