PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reception sensitivity by providing a pulse detecting device with a transmitting means transmitting ultrasonic waves toward an artery and a receiving means receiving the transmitted ultrasonic waves, and protruding the transmitting means and receiving means from a support substrate into close contact with the skin of an arm or the like. SOLUTION: PZT piezoelectric materials 2 are connected to an electrode 3 disposed on a support substrate 1, and upper electrodes are formed on the piezoelectric materials 2. When a voltage is applied between the electrode 3 on the support substrate 1 and the upper electrodes on the piezoelectric materials 2, ultrasonic waves are generated, and the ultrasonic waves reflected on an artery are received for pulse detection. When the piezoelectric materials 2 serving as a transmitter and a receiver are formed on the substrate 1, the piezoelectric materials 2 are protruded upward from the substrate 1, i.e., projections are formed on the substrate 1 in advance, and the piezoelectric materials 2 are connected to the projections. A transmission section and a reception section can be closely stuck to the arm of a subject, and detection precision of pulses is improved.
