PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design the security from the time of generating a document/image file to easily protect the originality and the copyright. SOLUTION: The information managing apparatus comprises a document/image file storing memory HDD/DS1, an ACP:DRE/PC1 for embedding alteration detecting and alteration dealing data in a document/image to generate and register a document/image file in the memory, an IMAC/DS1 for sending the document/image file in the memory to personal computers PC/PC1-3 via networks LAN, W, and PC:DUA/PC1-3 for detecting an altered document/image by referring to the alteration detecting data after extracting the alteration detecting and alteration-dealing data buried in the document/image of the document/image file read out of the memory, thereby executing a process meant by the alteration dealing data, if an alteration exists. The alteration detecting data are document/image managing information, and the alteration dealing data are reported to the source of the document/image to delete the document/image file, or reported to a document/image transfer source.
