PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To integrate a high-pressure discharge lamp and a lighting device with a suitable structure. SOLUTION: This lighting device is provided with a DC power source circuit 3 converting AC input power 1 into a direct current, an inverter circuit 4 converting the direct current into high frequency of 1 kHz or more, a controlling circuit 5 driving the inverter circuit 4, a load circuit 6 applying discharge starting voltage required for starting to discharge the high-pressure discharge lamp 7 to the high-pressure discharge lamp 7 and applying an output of the inverter circuit 4 to the high-pressure discharge lamp 7, a first substrate 81 mounting the DC power source circuit 3, the inverter circuit 4 and the controlling circuit 5 and a second substrate 82 mounting the load circuit 6.
