<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform heat dissipation in an image reading apparatus, while further suppressing the invasion of dirt and dust compared with a conventional manner. <P>SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes a case body 11a, platen glass 12, and a full rate carriage 13a. The case body 11a includes holes O<SB>1</SB>, O<SB>2</SB>. The holes O<SB>1</SB>, O<SB>2</SB>respectively include clogging members 111a, 112a for clogging the holes. When originals are read whose number is less than the prescribed number, the image reading apparatus holds the full rate carriage 13a at a position shown in figure (a) so as to perform scanning. In the meantime, when the originals not less than the prescribed number are read, the image reading apparatus holds the full rate carriage 13a at a position shown in figure (b) so as to perform scanning. Consequently, a slide member 111b and a projecting member 134a give outer force to the clogging members 111a, 112a with the movement of the full rate carriage 13a, so that the members are changed in position and shape. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
