This invention provides an apparatus for treating the end face of a resin plate, which can remove only burrs in the end face in a short time without affecting any part other than the burrs in the resin plate. An end face treating apparatus (A) comprises a resin plate supporting apparatus (1) for supporting a substantially rectangular resin plate at a treating position, and an infrared irradiation device (2) for melt treating the end face of the supported resin plate. The resin plate supporting apparatus (A) comprises position setting means for setting the treating position of the resin plate and contact means for moving the resin plate and contacting the resin plate with the position setting means. The contact means comprises pressing means for pressing the resin plate against the position setting means by a predetermined force, and moving means operated at a predetermined power for moving the pressing means. The power of the moving means is larger than the predetermined force of the pressing means.
