<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of remarkably improving recording/reproducing performance, and an optical disk recording/reproducing method. <P>SOLUTION: Emitting optical beams LB1 and LB2 are simultaneously applied to an optical disk 100, and are changed to a write irradiation mode, a rewriting irradiation mode, and a reproducing irradiation mode. Running OPC is executed by changing the emitting optical beam LB1 to the write irradiation mode and the emitting optical beam LB2 to a read irradiation mode in a 2-beam recording operation mode, new data is written while erasing existing data by changing the emitting optical beam LB1 to an erasure irradiation mode and the emitting optical beam LB2 to the write irradiation mode in a 2-beam rewriting operation mode, and reproducing data D1 and D2 are subjected to error correction by changing the emitting optical beams LB1 and LB2 to the read irradiation mode in a 2-beam reproducing operation mode.
