1. A microfluidic device, for analysis, comprising:
a chip comprising a channel having a cross sectional area with a width less than or equal to 150 μm and a depth less than or equal to 150 μm; a first source of radiation comprising a light emitting diode or a laser which emits electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of 1400 nm to 1600 nm for directly heating a sample placed in the channel in use; and an analytical assembly configured to record a change in the sample arising from heating of the sample with the first source of electromagnetic radiation; wherein the first source of electromagnetic radiation comprises multiple sources of electromagnetic radiation or a single source of electromagnetic radiation arranged so that the electromagnetic radiation is directed along the length of the channel, such that the sample is heated uniformly across the cross-sectional area of the channel and along the length of the channel. |
