PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst for waste gas purification which has high waste gas purifying performance whose early deterioration due to the poison of toxic substances in a waste gas is prevented. CONSTITUTION: As for a catalyst 3 for waste gas purification, a lower side catalyst layer 5 produced by carrying palladium on lanthanum-impregnated alumina is formed on a honeycomb carrier 4 and an upper side catalyst layer 6 produced by carrying rhodium on lanthanum impregnated alumina is formed further on the layer 5. Nickel oxide is added to the lower side catalyst layer 5. Palladium poisoning by toxic substances such as hydrogen sulfide, etc., is prevented or suppressed by nickel oxide and thus early deterioration of the catalyst 3 for waste gas purification is prevented and at the same time the waste gas purifying function is heightened. |
