摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption.SOLUTION: A display device 10 includes: a light source unit 60 composed of a plurality of light source sections disposed in accordance with respective sub-regions of an image display panel 40 to emit light onto the sub-regions; a light source controller 50 for controlling irradiation of light of the light source sections; a signal processing section 20 for generating an output signal; and an image display panel driving section 30 for controlling an image displayed on the image display panel 40 for each sub-region. The signal processing section 20 determines whether it is in a first mode or a second mode. In the first mode, an extension coefficient is determined that is common to all the sub-regions. In the second mode, an extension coefficient is determined for each sub-region. The light source controller 50 controls all the light source sections to emit light in the first mode. The light source controller 50 controls light source sections disposed in accordance with an image display area to emit light in the second mode. The image display panel driving section 30 drives all the sub-regions in the first mode and drives the image display area when in the second mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
