[Problem] To provide a coating composition which is capable of forming a cured film that exhibits excellent transparency and weather resistance, while having particularly excellent hardness. [Solution] A coating composition which is obtained by: hydrolyzing a silicon-containing substance (component (M)) by mixing silica colloidal particles having primary particle diameters of from 2 to 80 nm (component (S)) with the component (M); and then mixing modified metal oxide colloidal particles (C) having primary particle diameters of from 2 to 100 nm thereinto, said modified metal oxide colloidal particles (C) being obtained by coating the surfaces of metal oxide colloidal particles (A) serving as cores and having primary particle diameters of from 2 to 60 nm (component (F)) with a coating material (B) that is composed of acidic oxide colloidal particles.
