A thermal protector (1) that opens/closes electrical circuits of electrical products is provided with: first and second terminals (2, 3) that are connected to external circuits, respectively; a first insulating block section (4) that holds the first terminal (2); a second insulating block section (5) that holds the second terminal (3); a base (6) that connects the first insulating block section (4) and the second insulating block section (5) to each other; a fixed contact point (7) connected to the first terminal (2); a movable contact point (8) disposed at a position facing the fixed contact point (7); a bimetal (9) that inverts the warping direction by having a set temperature as a boundary; and an elastically deformable movable board (10), which is engaged with the bimetal (9), has the movable contact point (8) fixed thereto, and is connected to the second terminal (3), said elastically deformable movable board being fixed to the base (6). The bimetal (9) and the movable board (10) are disposed such that the bimetal and the movable board are within a region sandwiched between the first insulating block section (4) and the second insulating block section (5), and are non-parallel to all the surfaces of the first and the second insulating block sections (4, 5). |
