The gas control device for the feed of an instantaneous water heater consists of an electromagnetic inlet valve (50), a main control unit (12) following this in the gas flow direction and having a valve whose valve rod (20) is moved in the opening direction on opening the hot water tap of a water throughflow actuating device, and a subsequent electromagnetic outlet valve (66). The valve rod (20) of the main control unit (12) has a conical section which cooperates with an electric switch which actuates the electromagnetic valves (50,66) directly or via further monitoring devices, in particular an ignition flame monitor. <IMAGE>
