PURPOSE:To prevent the input errors by securing such a constitution where a computer main body gives a command to a peripheral device to report the attribute, the peripheral device reports its own attribute after reception of the command, and the computer main body produces and adds a system control table based on the attribute of the peripheral device. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral device 1 reports the active state to a computer main body 2 after application of a power supply. The body 2 receives the report and gives a command to the device 1 to report the attribute information. Then the device 1 reports its own attribute to the main body 2 with a command of the body 2. The body 2 produces and adds a system control table based on the information received from the device 1. These processes are repeated for each application of power supplies of all peripheral devices. Then the system control tables related to each peripheral device are produced and added to the body 2. Thus the working environment of a system is decided. In such a constitution, input mistakes can be avoided.
