The cylinder block is for a water-cooled multi-cylinder IC engine. It consists of a housing (1) which is fitted with cylinder bushes (2) so that a water jacket (4) is formed between the bushes (2) and the housing (1). The housing (1) is produced as a light metal pressure die-casting, whilst the bushes (2) are produced as light metal chill castings. Each bush (2) has a recess at its lower end to receive a locating ring (6) which fits in a hole (9) in the transverse wall (8) in the housing (1).
